Carrigtwohill United AFC
Under – 12
Carrigtwohill 4 V Innishvilla 2 4th
December 2016
At Ballyadam Park In Ireland, soccer is a
winter sport and last year, that meant four months of match cancellations. This year is different and the
matches, at least in Bally- adam, have kept going on without any interruptions. Today saw Carrigtwohill
Under-12s take on Innish- villa’s youngsters in a great match. The weather was cold and breezy, but condi- tions were good enough for winter soccer in December and both teams got into ac- tion from the outset. The
match was even enough in the first 10 minutes, but Carrigtwohill took control little
in the middle of the field where
by little, especially Daniel Murnane
and Dylan Curran recov- ered ball after ball. Still Innishvilla were
well organised and a first goal proved elusive until a well-crafted corner fell to

between Daniel and Ryan W soon produced a lovely wide ball for Zack Griffin who controlled and riffled the ball across goals inside the post. That was really super work from the lads. But then, as all seemed
to be fine, Carrigtwohill started dropping back and left
the initiative to Inn-
ishvilla in midfield. As the visitors now got to attack, it was only a matter of time before a chance would fall to them and it soon did for 3-1. That was all Innishvil-

MATCH RESULTS FAI junior cup result
Midleton 0 v 2 Thurles Town Very even cup tie for long
periods today, Midleton de- fended very well as a unit and limited Thurles to very little chances, set pieces was the only way it looked like a goal may come with Thurles having a few half chances in 1st
half, but at the interval it was honours even. Thurles upped the tempo half playing a
a little in 2nd
lot more direct but Midle- ton kept strong and had a decent spell themselves with the visitors keeper being called into some important action, but as game wore on to final quarter Thurles applied more pressure and got the all important goal to swing the contest in their favour and quickly added a second five minutes later. Thurles shut up shop after their second and Midle- ton just couldn’t find that chance to give them a life- line.
Hard luck to all the team
but a great effort today and can look forward to another cup tie next week to bounce back.

however, Carrigtwohill went
forward again and
pushed Innishvilla back. Ryan Wolfe ran onto a long ball to take on the keeper for the second time with the same outcome! At 4-2 with minutes
to play, the

the Corkbeg clubhouse as the winning
Midleton 1. Midleton claimed the
three points after a tough game
against a resilient
Douglas Hall side. It was a game where defences were on top but Midleton man- aged to break the deadlock thanks to a goal from Eric Cunningham. Some very good saves from our keeper Alex Howard kept Douglas Hall at bay and Midleton held on for a deserved win. Congrats to all involved.
CSL U14 Premier Division
Midleton 5-1 Rockmount A very dominant perfor-
mance this afternoon as the boys controlled this game from start to finish despite going
a
and character to stick to the game plan throughout. Goals from Fintan and
Liam gave us a 2-1 H/T lead. Goals from Chris and Kaleam secured the in the 2nd
win half giving our
young Magpies a well de- served three points. Well done to all involved.

five minutes. Each player showed great
goal down after composure
mance from all the boys to win and a great three points away from home. Well done boys.
U16 league result Mayfield 1 v 2 Midleton Goalscorers : Eabhan De
Barra and Robbie Kinane with a fine solo effort. Great
away win this
morning for the Magpies in Mayfield, magpies took a de- served lead but a freak goal for the home side brought sides level again, but
Magpies took control once more and really could have won this game by a lot more, well done lads.
Munster Senior Cup Blarney 2-0 Midleton A tough result to take
after a really good perfor- mance in Blarney, as the home side’s only attempt on goal came of a deflected header with 20 minutes to go which gave them a goal lead against the run of play. A few good defensive blocks and keeper saves saw Blar- ney stay in the game and who were very lucky to keep 11 men on the field, the Magpies dominated much of the proceedings but that important
goal alluded
them and Blarney got that extra bit of luck to take the lead, Blarney 2nd
came from
the spot in last kick of the game to end proceedings.

game was in the bag and Carrigtwohill kept pushing, getting close a couple of times. A great day’s work for
Carrigtwohill’s U12s and a super performance from a number of players, includ- ing a man of the match dis- play from Ben O’Sullivan, first at the back and then in midfield where he robbed and cleared the ball more times than anyone could remember. Well done Ben! Player of the Match: Ben
O’Sullivan
