ing the live music, and saw approximately €900 raised for the two chari- ties through donations and raffle tickets. “It was a great night,” said Emma O’Connor, one of the organisers of the event. “The band were excellent. There was a nice crowd. Everybody who at- tended had a great night.” The event was organ-
ised in association with the Friends of Aoibhe Face- book page, which is ded- icated to keeping people up to date on the progress of Mrs O’Connor’s young daughter Aoibhe, who has a very rare disease. The Rock Night was the latest in a series of fundraisers in aid of charities which will one day provide help for Aoibhe, organised by her
parents, John and Emma, and her grand-uncle, Owen Fogarty, the main organiser of Saturday’s fundraiser. “The raffle would’ve
been our main source of money on the night,” said Mrs O’Connor. “It was a great
success. I couldn’t
tell you how many tickets were sold, but we raised close to €900 on the night.
It’s great going for
a night’s
work.” The prizes for
the raffle were all donated by
local businesses, including Tesco’s, Electric restau- rant in Cork City, the Elm Tree in Glounthaune, Bal- lycotton Seafood, Londis and Centra in Killeagh, amongst many others. The monies raised will divided evenly be-
be
tween Rebel Wheelers and Bumbleance. “John, my husband, met Bumbleance during the day,” said Mrs
O’Connor, “and they sent down stuff for the raffle, and John is also a trainer with Rebel Wheelers so he was representing them on the night.” Rebel Wheelers is a
multi-sports club, in which all physical disabilities are included, for children from between 5-18 years old are welcome to join the club, which is
run by the parents. Bumbleance

Aoibhe we’d like to thank Owen Fogarty for organ- ising the night,” said Mrs O’Connor. “We’d also like
the Smoking Doves—they were
night—and of course we’d like
to thank the band, excellent on the to thank everybody
who bought a raffle ticket and supported it on the night.”
