at the break. Our boys bat- tled bravely and didn’t give in but Tipp’s pressure led to them scoring again and won the game 2-0 in the end. While disappointed our lads now know what it takes to play at this level and while we were under pressure for most of the game we only lost 2-0 and can take heart in that.

East Cork Rugby Notes Midleton RFC
by ANNE CUNNINGHAM
OVER 40’S RUGBY Nobody can deny that
the social side of rugby is what keeps people close to the game long after they’ve hung up their boots. This fact was never the more evident than on Saturday night
last, December 3rd
when a group of Midleton RFC stalwarts dusted off the boots and made their way to Frogmore to take on their counterparts from Youghal RFC.
A great match was
had by all and while play couldn’t be described as ‘champagne rugby’, it’ll go down as one of the most enjoyable, celebrated and remembered games in a long while. The boys even took time to stage a “Man- nequin Challenge” which must be seen to be believed and If you must know the score, we scored 4 tries to their 2! The return fixture takes place on January 21st at 7.30pm in Towns Park. Midleton RFC would like to thank most sincere-
ly the efforts of Morgan O’Connell who arranged the game and all his team who lined out. Well done lads and we can’t wait for the New Year’s Round 2!

FOR ORDERING TICKETS The IRFU now requires
that all Home Internation- al Rugby Tickets are paid for in full by the club ahead of the respective game. As you can appreciate this pe- riodically and unnecessari- ly compromises the club’s finances. To alleviate this situa-
tion, it has been agreed by The Committee people
that ordering tickets
through Midleton RFC must pay for them in full no later than 2 calendar months prior to the game. Any tickets ordered and
not paid for in full by this date will be released for resale by the club without exception. Current club members
will have priority in any situation where tickets are limited. Please
place orders
through Andrew McCar- thy
0879384903 or saleen-

collected from the Club House from 7pm on Thurs- days or from Andrew Mc- Carthy at The Mill Wheel Bar by arrangement.
