Inch Community Hall Extension Officially Opened CUNNINGHAM
by LEAH RING and ANDREA
Inch Community Hall officially opened its new extension on Saturday, 3 December following many months of planning, fund- raising and building work. The community hall
now has an additional kitchen area, a storage room, a disability toilet
and a foyer that will also act as an additional room for events and activities. Barry Fitzgerald, Inch
Community Hall Com- mittee Secretary said: “It was super, an excel- lent night. The hall was packed to the rafters.” On the night, a spe-
cial presentation was also made to a member of the community for their hard work and dedication over
the years. Mr Fitzgerald ex-
plained: “We made a presentation to Dennis Collins, one of the senior members of the commit- tee who officially opened the hall with the cutting of the ribbon. He was in the new school and also taught in the old hall. We made the presentation to him and his wife Patsy for all their support and
commitment to the com- mittee.” The works on Inch
Community Hall began in Easter 2016 and is now open for all members of the community to avail of. “It’s in the heart of the
village and is used for so many activities; yoga, tae kwon do, Foróige and various different activities and events. We are hop- ing for a lot more of them
now with the new space,” Mr Fitzgerald said.
He added: “The hall is
used every year for school plays, charity events, and family events. It is a key element of the communi- ty here.” The Inch Communi-
ty Hall Committee ex- pressed their gratitude to the Inch drama group for their assistance with fund- raising. Mr Fitzgerald said: “They kicked off our
fundraising. They per- formed Troubled Bache- lors which was produced by Mary Flavin Colbert and it was fantastic.” Inch Community Hall committee thanked build- er Donal O’Brien and his team, electrician Thom- as Fitzgerald, carpenters Noel O’Connor and Ea- mon Byrne, painter Lee Reeves, plumber John Foley, Brian Cronin and the engineer on the pro- ject, Colin Brennan.
