This tour takes us cycling through some of the most beautiful scenery in Central America. We ride past smoking volcanoes, through cloud forest and around national parks. We also cycle by lakes and along the Panama Canal. En route we visit the volcanic island of Ometepe and the tropical islands of Bocas del Toro for a little relaxation.
14 day tour itinerary
Day 1 Tour starts Managua. Transfer to Granada. Day 2 Granada Drive to the Masaya Volcano National Park. Cycle from the park back to Granada. Free time in the afternoon to explore this colonial city. Days 3/4 Ometepe Island Ride to Asese Peninsula. Take the ferry to Ometepe Island from San Jorge. Cycle to Santo Domingo where we overnight. In the morning ride around Volcano Concepcion. Free time to explore this volcanic island or relax. Day 5 Costa Rica Take the ferry back to the mainland. Drive to the Costa Rica border, and on to Bagaces. Cycle a circular loop near Miravalle Volcano, before driving to Canas. Days 6/7 Arenal Cycle from the mountain village of Tilaran to Lake Arenal. Ride round the lake and past Arenal Volcano to La Fortuna where we overnight. In the morning cycle around the local area. Free time to explore the region more or
relax. Day 8 Turrialba Cycle through the coffee plantations of the lush Orosi Valley to Turrialba. Days 9/10 Panama – Bocas del Toro Freewheel down to Squirres. Drive to the Caribbean coast, and cycle to the Panama border. Drive to Almirante and take a ferry to Bocas de Toro. Free time to explore these tropical islands. Day 11 Boquete Cross back to the mainland and drive up the slopes of the continental divide. Cycle down through the hills to Boquete. Day 12 Chitre Drive from the cloud forest to the lowlands. Cycle through the farmland and ranches to Chitre. Day 13 Panama Canal Drive to Panama City. Cycle along the famous Panama Canal and through Soberna National Park. Free time to explore the city. Day 14 Tour ends Panama City.

Accommodation: 13 nights hotels. Meals: 13 breakfasts are included. Tour staff: Explore Tour Leader cycles with the group on each day; support staff and drivers. Our bus acts as vehicle back-up whilst cycling. Included Bike: We provide 24 gear Conor City 350 hybrid bikes with front suspension -– see tour notes for details. Route and Terrain: On this tour we cycle 650 km over eleven days (an average of 59 km per day). The terrain is often undulating to mountainous. Most of the tour is on tarmac roads although these can be in poor condition at times. Some of the tour is on good gravel roads. A support vehicle is available throughout the tour. We have graded the route as moderate to challenging. Group size: Generally 12 to 16.
