A cycling tour exploring the scenic beauty and cultural highlights of Vietnam
On this adventurous tour we bike along the rural backroads and into the highlands of Vietnam. Along the way we discover the cultural highlights of Saigon, Hoi An, Hue and Hanoi. There is also time to explore the Mekong Delta, the tropical beaches and islands of Nha Trang and the majestic beauty of Halong Bay on an overnight cruise.
14 day tour itinerary
Day 1 Join tour in Ho Chi Minh City. Explore downtown old Saigon. Day 2 Cu Chi Tunnels Cycle to the underground Viet Cong labyrinth. Day 3 Mekong Delta We cycle past verdant gardens and orchards, visit local cottage industries and discover life on the Mekong. After a typical Vietnamese lunch we visit a fl oating market. Days 4/5 Dalat Highlands Combining bike and bus we travel up to the historic hill station. After a night in Dalat we cycle the Hon Giao Pass before an exciting descent to the coast. Day 6 Nha Trang beach A boat trip to tropical islands and chance to relax. Day 7 Quy Nhon Cycle along the most scenic sections of the coast including a ride up to Ca pass. Days 8/9 Hoi An With a visit to the site of the My Lai massacre en route we bike up the coast to Hoi An. Visit this charming ancient sea port on a guided walk and in your freetime. Days 10/11 Hue Start our cycle from Hai Van Pass to the old cultural capital. Explore the ancient Imperial citadel, tombs and pagodas by bike before catching the reunifi cation

express overnight train to Hanoi. Day 12 Halong Bay Cruise Leaving the bike behind we cruise and have the chance to kayak among myriad jungle- top islands on an overnight boat trip. Day 13 Hanoi Discover the charm and character of the Old Quarter on a late afternoon walking tour. Day 14 Tour ends Hanoi.

Accommodation: 12 nights standard hotels, 1 night basic sleeper train. Meals: 13 breakfasts, 2 lunches and 1 dinner are included. Tour staff: Explore Tour Leader and driver(s). Included Bike: We provide 18 gear Merida hybrid bikes with front suspension – see trip notes for details. Route and Terrain: On this tour we cycle approximately 517 km over eight days (an average of 65 km per day). We mostly follow provincial roads with less car traffi c (90% tarmac roads, 10% earth/gravel roads). The terrain is generally fl at except for the sections around Dalat which are in the hills. A support vehicle will accompany the rides throughout the tour with the exception of part of the Mekong Delta route. We have graded the route as moderate. Group size: Generally 10 to 16.
