With superb coastal scenery, mountain landscapes and a climate to match, the Mediterranean island of Sardinia is perfectly suited to a cycle holiday. Our twin-centre trip starts in the west, exploring the dramatic coastline and Malvasia vineyards. Crossing the rugged interior we pass through mountains and beautiful traditional villages. In the eastern town of Orosei we cycle through Bidderosa Natural reserve, to idyllic beaches and culminate our ride with the grand Supramonte mountains.


8 day tour itinerary


Day 1 Join tour at Olbia airport. Day 2 Malvasia vineyards We ride a circular route following the Temo river through Malvasia vineyards to an ancient watchtower. Day 3 Coastal road Visit the old town of Alghero then return to Bosa along the scenic seaside route. Day 4 Gennargentu Mountains Drive to Fonni village from where we cycle through the rugged interior, passing the rebellious historical wall paintings of Gorgosolo. Fine views of the Supramonte range greet us on our

route to Orosei. Day 5 Orosei The day is left free to explore nearby beaches, take walks or cycle some more. Day 6 Bidderosa Natural Reserve Ride along the dramatic east coast through Bidderosa to Capo Comino lighthouse, returning to Orosei on the inland route. Day 7 Supramonte Mountains Cycle over the most spectacular pass in the range, with wonderful views of Tiscali and Gorropu Gorge. Day 8 Tour ends Olbia airport.

Route and Terrain: On this tour we cycle 362 km over fi ve days (an average of 72 km per day) with a further optional 80 km available. We mostly follow provincial roads with little car traffi c (98% tarmac roads, 2% good forest trail). On days 3 and 4 maps will be provided for cyclists to follow, while the tour leader drives the back up vehicle.We have graded the route as challenging. Group Size: Generally 10 to 16.
