Tour essentials A cycling holiday exploring the backroads and central highlands of Sri Lanka
Completing a circular journey this tour takes in ancient temples and fortresses, cycling through tea plantations and across the trails of the Knuckles Range. Leaving the coast behind we explore the ancient city of Polonnaruwa on two wheels before steadily climbing to the wide plains of the Knuckles. There is also the option to search for leopard in Yala National Park before making our way to the beach for a well earned rest.
14 day tour itinerary
Day 1 Join tour Negombo. Afternoon cycle through Waikkal. Day 2 Dambulla Cycle to Sigiriya visiting the rock temple at Dambulla en route. Day 3 Rock Fortress Explore Lion Rock before cycling to the ancient city of Polonnaruwa. Day 4 Polonnaruwa Explore the city by bike. Day 5 Highlands Cycle to Kandy via the Knuckles Range. Day 6 Kandy A break from the bikes today as we are free to explore Kandy. Optional visit to see the Temple of the Tooth. Day 7 Hill Country Cycle through tea plantations and

small villages until we reach Nuwara Eliya. Days 8/9 Udawalawe Descend via Belihuloya to Udawalawe National Park. Optional game drive. Day 10 Yala National Park Cycle to Tissamaharama on the edge of Yala National Park. Optional game drive. Days 11/13 Unawatuna Explore Galle fort and spend time relaxing on the beach. Day 14 Tour ends Unawatuna.

Included Bike: We provide 21 gear Trek hybrid bikes – see tour notes for details. Route and Terrain: On this tour we cycle 596 km over eleven days (an average of 54 km per day). The terrain is mostly fl at however there are steeper sections around Kandy, the Knuckles and Nuwara Eliya. A support vehicle is available throughout the tour. We have graded the route as moderate. Group Size: Generally 10 to 16.
