With one foot in each continent this tour highlights the cultural contrasts and mountainous beauty of Africa and Europe. From our Andalucian base in Algeciras we cycle the Spanish sierras, white villages, cork oak forests and the Rock itself – Gibraltar. Across the straits in Morocco we explore the Rif Mountains around Chefchaouen, visit Tetuan and cycle through Berber hamlets.


8 day tour itinerary


Day 1 Join tour in Algeciras. Day 2 Alcornocales National Park From Tarifa – Spain’s most southerly village – we ride through cork oak forests of the national park back to Algeciras. Day 3 Ronda A scenic train ride to this delightful mountain village. Cycle and train back to Algeciras through the mountains passing several whitewashed villages. Day 4 Morocco Rif Mountains A short ferry ride and we enter Africa. Cycle along the coast then inland across rolling hills and passing Berber hamlets to Tetuan. Drive to Chefchaouen, our beautiful base that is painted entirely light blue! Day 5 Chefchaouen Free time to explore the bazaar and maze of


sidestreets. Optional walks or further cycling in the area. Day 6 Straits of Gibraltar We cycle along the Oued Laou river all the way to the Mediterranean coast before making our way by ferry back across to Spain. Day 7 The Rock A chance to explore Gibraltar with an invigorating ascent to the lighthouse and upper rock. Time to walk the summit trail for commanding views before heading into the old town. Return to Algeciras by public bus. Day 8 Tour ends in Algeciras.

Included Bike: We provide 24 and 27 gear Conor City 350 hybrid bikes with front suspension – see tour notes for details. Route and Terrain: On this tour we cycle 238 km over six days (an average of 48 km per day) with further optional rides available. We mostly follow provincial roads with little car traffi c (93% tarmac roads, 7% good forest trails). Maps will be provided for cyclists to travel individually or in groups while the tour leader drives the luggage vehicle, except on day 7 when the leader will cycle with the group. There is a back up vehicle for emergencies. We have graded the route as moderate. Group size: Generally 10-16.
