Join us on a challenging cycling tour following some of the Tour de France’s famous hill climbs over the hills of the Luberon and to the top of Mont Ventoux. We discover the landscape that inspired Van Gogh, visit ancient vineyards and hilltop villages. Sample some of the regions gastronomic highlights along the way.


8 day tour itinerary


Day 1 Join tour Orange. Day 2 Roman Orange Cycle south to the vineyards of Chateauneuf du Pape and Tavel, returning along the Rhone Valley. Back in Orange, discover the town’s well preserved Roman theatre and triumphal arch. Days 3/4 The Luberon Travel deep into Provence towards Carpentras, through the village of Vaison la Romaine. Sample some of the best Grenache wines in the Dentelles foothills and pedal through to Seguret. Optional trips include a visit to the former Papal town of Avignon or a ride through some of Luberon’s prettiest villages.

Days 5 Mont Ventoux Circular ride via the challenging 1912m summit of Mont Ventoux. Day 6 St Remy de Provence Leaving Carpentras head south to the enclosed valley location of medieval Fontaine de Vaucluse and on to St Remyde Provence, the birthplace of astrologist Nostradamus. Day 7 Barbentane Ride to Barbentane and La Montagnette. Here, explore the Chateau of Barbentane or the Abbey of St Michel du Frigolet then on to Fontvielle to see a disused windmill and the Roman remains at Berbegall Mill. Pass through olive groves to the village of Les Baux to see its 11th century


fortifi cations and stunning landscapes. Day 8 Tour ends St Remy de Provence.

Included Bike: We provide 21 gear Trek T10 Navigator hybrid bikes – see tour notes for details. Route and Terrain: On this tour we cycle 430 km over seven days (an average of 72 km per day). Three of the cycling days are circular routes and therefore optional. We mainly use quiet, undulating roads although there will be several steeper sections. There is vehicle back up for emergencies. We have graded the route as challenging to tough. Group Size: Generally 10 to 16.
