Cycle the Cape CTC Tour essentials South Africa’s Cape winelands and garden route


Cycle with us through South Africa’s Western Cape Province. We pedal along the rugged coastline of Cape Point and through the forested shorelines of the ‘Garden Route’. In Stellenbosch Valley we ride through vineyards and enjoy a glass of the locally produced wine. Along the way we explore the dripstone caverns of Cango Caves and visit Boulders Beach – home to a colony of African Penguins.


10 day tour itinerary


Day 1 Join tour Cape Town. Day 2 Cape Town Cycle along the lower slopes of Table Mountain. Visit Boulders Beach – famous for its colony of African Penguins. Day 3 Cape Winelands Ride through vineyards and sample the local wine in Stellenbosch valley. Days 4/5 Oudtshoorn and the Karoo Pedal through Red Stone Hills at the foot of the Swartberg Mountains. Visit the dripstone caverns of Cango Caves and cycle over Swartberg Pass. Days 6/7 Garden Route Pedal along the trails of Harkerville National Forest. Visit


Tsitsikamma National Park. Ride across the Bloukrans and Nature’s Valley Passes. Days 8/9 Swellendam and Cape Agulhas Cycle through farm and to Malgas Pont, stopping at Knysna Elephant Park. Explore Cape Agulhas – Africa’s southernmost point. Day 10 Hermanus Search for whales off the coast (July to November). Tour ends Cape Town.

Accommodation: 4 nights standard hotel/guesthouse, 2 nights comfortable hotel, 3 nights standard farm estate. Meals: 9 breakfasts are included. Tour Staff: Explore Tour Leader cycles with you each day while the support vehicle and driver are available to provide back up or assistance if needed. All luggage is transported in the support vehicle. Included Bike: We provide 21 gear Stockli XL front suspension mountain bikes - see tour notes for details. Cycling Details: On this tour we cycle 227 km over nine days (an average of 25 km per day) with a further optional 58 km available. We cycle on minor roads and good tracks and there is a support vehicle throughout. We have graded the tour as moderate. Group size: Generally 10 to 16.
