Cycling along quiet backroads and farm tracks we discover the beautiful region of Cappadocia in central Turkey where soft lava and ash rock has eroded to form a landscape unlike any other on earth. We cycle among the ‘fairy chimneys’, the contoured cliffs and rock-cut churches of the Ihlara Valley, and discover the underground city of Kaymakli.
8 day tour itinerary
Day 1 Join tour Kayseri. Day 2 Ihlara Valley Cycle through the narrow valley of Ihlara. Admire the spectacular scenery and rock-cut churches carved into cliff walls with ancient frescos painted by Byzantine monks. Day 3 Kaymakli Underground City Explore this underground city. Cycle along gentle trails to the old Greek village of Mustafapasa through valleys lined with cone shaped ‘fairy chimneys’. Days 4/7 Cycle Cappadocia Cycle amongst this unique landscape, through valleys and local villages, and experience the famous Turkish hospitality. En route we visit famous valleys including Pigeon Valley and White Valley. We also visit the troglodyte village of Zelve, the

historic village of Ibrahimpasa and local landmarks including Uchisar ‘Castle’. Day 8 Tour ends Goreme.

Included Bike: We provide 24 gear Corratec X-vert Delta hybrid bikes with front suspension – see tour notes for details Route and Terrain: On this tour we cycle 176 km over six days (an average of 29 km per day) with further optional rides available. The terrain is generally fl at, following the valley fl oors. We cycle mainly along unsurfaced farm tracks and minor rural backroads. The support driver transfers luggage and is available to assist if required. We have graded this tour as easy. Group size: Generally 12 to 16.
