Combining the port of Cochin with the tranquil backwaters of Alleppey this tour offers a chance to see the huge variety that ‘God’s Own Country’ has to offer. Leaving the coast we explore the rolling tea plantations and valleys around Munnar before making our way through villages and along quiet backroads to the waterways, and our chance to experience a traditional Keralan houseboat.


13 day tour itinerary


Day 1 Join tour Cochin. Day 2 Fort Cochin Full day exploring the city and getting to know our bikes. Day 3 Bird Sanctuary Cycle to Thattekkad. Days 4/5 Munnar Passing through tea plantations make our way to Munnar. Explore the villages of this hill town by bike. Days 6/7 Hill Country Continue through tea country and spice plantations to Cheruthoni. Day 8 Markets Cycle to Erratupetta, on the confl uence of two rivers and


a lively market town. Day 9 Rubber Plantations Cycle alongside agricultural fi elds and rubber plantations until we reach Kottayam. Days 10/11 Houseboats Moving in to the backwaters, we board our traditional houseboat for a night. Day 12 Cochin Return to Cochin, watch the fi shing nets at sunset. Day 13 Tour ends Cochin.

Route and Terrain: On this tour we cycle 436 km over nine days (an average of 48 km per day). We follow quiet backroads with some sections on larger main roads. The terrain is undulating with some steep climbs and descents through Munnar and Cheruthoni. A support vehicle is available throughout the tour. We have graded the route as moderate.
