Tartan Army Zip Across the Clyde for Arthritis Research UK
A group of brave kilt wearing Scotland fans from Kilmacolm, Houston and further afield took part in a Zip Slide across the Clyde on Saturday 24th
March in aid of Arthritis Research UK, the charity leading the fight against arthritis.
The group from the Kebab Shop Tartan Army were aiming to raise £675, but are now anticipating raising a fabulous £2000. Many family members and friends joined them on the day to see them fly over the Clyde in their kilts and supported their fundraising efforts which will help the charity to continue with their vital research into all types of arthritis.
Arthritis Research UK Regional Fundraising Manager Catriona Connelly says: “I would like to thank everybody who took part in this fantastic event, the sight of all the kilts flying across the river was amazing! Thank you also to everyone who sponsored them, your generous donations will be used to help the charity to fund world-class research into arthritis, the biggest cause of pain and disability in the UK.”

Homes For Habitat
In June 2013 a team from Renfrewshire (and a number from Houston/BoW) are planning to go to Malawi to take part in a big build project with Homes for Habitat. We will be spending 2 weeks assisting with building accommodation for orphans in Salima. There is about 10 of people on the team and we need to raise the funds to go.
I am looking to raise donations by cutting the grass during the summer months for elderly or incapacitated neighbours in the Houston and Bridge of Weir areas. In return I would like a donation to the charity build. I will be willing to cut grass on a monthly or fortnightly basis to suit.
