“A Rise in the Market”

By Edward Taylor, Directed by Mandy Robinson

Kilmacolm Dramatic Society’s Spring Production will be staged in the Kidston Hall Kilmacolm on Thursday 10th, Friday 11th and Saturday 12th May. Doors open at 7pm curtain up at 7.30pm. Featuring: Joe Robinson, John Gilchrist, Paul Ferguson, Terry Ferguson, Ana Tomic McAlindon, Kate Watt, & Andy McAlindon.

Edward Taylor’s sharp satire pokes fun at the fat cats of the European Community..........Sir Clive Partridge hopes to be the new President of the European Commerce Commission. However, his plans go awry when his high moral standards are beset by glamorous young women he cannot account for. Wild mishaps and comic confusion abound in this delightful farce.

Members of the cast and society will be flooding the village soon with publicity encouraging you to come along and support Sir Clive Partridge!! Tickets are now on sale from the Village Newsagents, Rosie Thirde (tel: 01505 873088) and members of the cast priced £10 (including wine or soft drinks during the interval).

KDS recently applied for funding towards the upgrading of our lighting system through “Awards for All Scotland”. Unfortunately we were turned down. As those of you who support KDS productions will have noticed during the last play, we had tripods supporting our front of house lights. This was due to the lighting supports we have used for many years becoming obsolete. We therefore require an upgrade of our current system which will be expensive. KDS will have to cover the cost of this work which will be done gradually. We also propose to install new lights and a lighting control unit as funds allow. This should save us money in the long term as virtually all our lighting is hired at present, costing several hundred pounds per production!

The Society has been in existence since 1945 and we naturally wish to continue for many more years. Therefore we appeal for your support by asking you to come along and watch our productions. Every ticket we sell helps to offset our ever increasing budget. We hope the Society fills a need by way of entertainment for Kilmacolm and the surrounding villages.

The KDS calendar for this year is filling up. This winter we have plans afoot for a Pantomime if we can pull it off, and an even bigger challenge for next April.......watch this space! For more information visit our web-site www. kilmacolmdramaticsociety.com

We look forward to welcoming you to our play in May. Rosie Thirde President

Osteopathy recognises the importance of the link between the structural balance of the human body and how it functions. Imagine for example, a car that has one of its front wheels not quite pointing straight. It may run well for a while, but after a few thousand miles, the tyre will wear out. You can apply this example to the body, which is why it’s important to keep it in good balance.

Osteopaths consider each person as an individual. Utilising a wide range of gentle techniques including stretching, massage and joint mobilisation, the osteopath will work with your body to create the perfect conditions to encourage the healing process.

The most common conditions we treat are • Back and Neck pain • Shoulder and Arm problems • Pelvis Hip and Leg problems • Sports and other injuries

However, patients have found Osteopathy helpful for many other conditions. If you want to find out more, your osteopath will be happy to talk to you.

Osteopaths study for four years for an undergraduate degree.

The British Medical Associations guidance for GP’s states that doctors can safely refer to osteopaths.

Osteopathy is recommended by National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE) for low back pain.

Summer Fayre – Sat 19th May

Spring is in the air and all the hustle and bustle of Christmas and New Year has passed. Here at St Vincent’s Hospice we are looking to the future and our up and coming Summer Fayre!

Back in the heart of Johnstone, our Summer Fayre will take place on Saturday 19th May in Houston Square from 10am – 4pm. With lots of attractions to keep the whole family occupied it is a day not to be missed. There will be various stalls including Home Baking, Fancy Goods, Books, Raffles and of course the ever popular Teddy Tombola! The fun of the fair will also be coming to town for the day.

The hospice greatly relies on the generosity of our supporters to help make the day possible. If you have any donations for any of our stalls they would be very much appreciated, these can be handed into any of our 9 charity shops and ask to be sent to the hospice or dropped off at the hospice itself. We also welcome any supporter who would like to volunteer on the day, we would be delighted to have you along.

If you have any questions or would like to make a donation or volunteer for the day, please contact Ashley Moran or Drew Gibson in the fundraising team on 01505 705635 or email ashley.moran@svh.co.uk.
