Jim Black wins annual Anderson Quaich at Paisley Colour Photography Club

Over 70 Paisley Colour Photographic Club members and friends attended the Anderson Quaich competition, held recently at the Hunterhill Community Centre in Paisley.

A large entry was submitted for this annual digital competition which was originally intended to be held last December, but was postponed due to bad weather. All members competed on equal terms in the competition with entries consisting of up to three images on a set subject, judged individually by three long standing club members - Robert Fulton, Jim Caldwell and Mike Cruise. The subject this session was Street Photography.

After several tense rounds of judging where images were gradually eliminated agreement was finally reached as to the top four positions. Fourth place was awarded to Ian McIntyre for his superbly composed street scene “Street Trader”. Third place was awarded to Fiona McEwan for her warm and colourful image “Street Sweeper”. Second place was awarded to Charles Hamilton for his moving Glasgow street portrait “Big Issue Seller”. The outright winner of the Anderson Quaich 2011/12 was Jim Black for his entry “Shutters, Martigues” which beautifully captured the light and shade on a colourful Mediterranean façade.
