Golf Union Announces Academy Squad


Graham McGee and Gary Havlin, the Renfrewshire Golf Union boys’ coaching convenors, have announced the coaching squads for the current season.


Last year, coaching was introduced for boys as young as ten years old who showed promise and,


following


the success of that initiative, this year’s squads include two boys under ten years old. In addition to the regular coaching sessions at Mearns Castle Golf Academy under the direction of coaches George Boswell, Iain Kennedy and Mark Loftus, this year there will be sessions at the Short Game Academy at Gleddoch Golf Course.


The squads are:


Under 18 – Alasdair McDougall – Elderslie, Fraser Lauder – Paisley, Paul Reilly – Lochwinnoch, Ewan Waugh – Whitecraigs, Stuart Cameron – Renfrew, David Slack – Gourock, Martin McCorkell – Gleddoch


Under 17 - Scott Ewing – Elderslie, Lee Wingate – Ranfurly Castle, Andrew Guthrie – Erskine, Graham Minton – Gourock


Under 16 – Colin Edgar – Cochrane Castle, Paul Dorrian and Chris McAuley


5-a-Side Charity Event, Sunday 3rd June


Do you play for a football team or just fancy getting some friends together to have a bit of fun while raising money for charity? Well the St Vincent’s Hospice 5-a-Side Event could be just the thing for you.


St Vincent’s Hospice is running a new sporting event for all the footballers out there, this year in the form of a 5-a-Side Charity Tournament. On Sunday 3rd June on Five on 5 Ltd at Pro Life Fitness Centre in Paisley will play host for this fantastic event.


By taking part you will take part in knock out games for qualifiers with the chance to win the St Vincent’s Hospice 5’s Trophy! A buffet will be provided for all players and you will have full use of the changing rooms, lockers and showers.
