A Grand Day Out this month....
As we approach gala season again, we all look forward to a “grand day out” with all the entertainment laid on for kids and grown-ups alike. These events are run to a very high standard throughout and everything goes like clockwork - weather permitting. All thanks to a small army of volunteers who gather in the wee dark hours of the winter to plan, organise and fundraise – all on their own time and certainly for no personal gain.
Some of these events date back many years and are steeped in history, others are more recent additions to the calendar. Perhaps you feel that you would like to get involved and be a part of our local annual events. Your involvement will be rewarding for yourself and the community, so why not become a part of your local community and offer your services.
This month we’ve got Houston’s Kirk Carnival on Saturday 12th May with the fancy dress parade starting from the Kirk at 12.15pm, the Knapps Show in Kilmacolm on Saturday 12th May, Brookfield Gala Day on Sunday 13th May in the Village Field starting at 2pm, and a Family Fun Day in Moss Road Park, Bridge of Weir on Sunday 20th May from 1.30pm - 3.30pm.
There’s more to come in June, so prepare yourself for a fun-filled summer!
An exciting new exhibition taking place in the Community Centre, Kilmacolm on Saturday 5th May 2012, from 10am to 4pm.
Gibb-Stuart’s Cook Live event will feature homeware
suppliers and cookery demonstrations, all under one roof, with lots of exciting offers on the day. See the main advert on our centre pages.
Homewares suppliers demonstrating a wide range of products for you to browse and buy from Masterchef brand, Easiyo, Sodastream, Le Creuset, Gaggia and others.
Cookery demonstrations from local chefs, Jason Andrews of River Inn, Matthew Scobey of Windyhill, and Tabby & Shafiq from Shimla Cottage.
