END OF YEAR REVIEW: EDITOR’S PICK 2011 EDITOR’S PICK OF THE BEST 3.

.KP TEAMUP WITHMCVITIES KP’sNuttyNibbleswere a highlight ofmine last year, mixing together my favourites tastes of sweet andsalty aswell asdoinga fantastic jobof mixing smooth, crunchy and chewy textures. I didpick this out as one ofmy favourites frommy stint as a judge on the Product of theYear panel, yet itwas beaten at the ceremony. Sad times.

.CRISPY BREAD ANYONE? Towards the end of last year, Symington’s and Seabrook worked to release their range of Bread Crisps. Coming in a range of yummy flavours, they offered something brand newto both the snacking and sharing sectors. In terms of innovation, itwas definitely up there. Ridiculouslymoreish, also.

.THE SOLUTION TO HEADACHEWOES Having recently won a Product of the Year Award, Nuromol continues to go fromstrength to strength. Once again I chose this as a potential winner fromPOTY, and it still is my favourite from the entire list of winners. The drug, which combines both paracetamol and ibruprofen, is just genius and left other non-food FMCG giants scratching their head as to why they hadn’t thought of it first.

.EGGS FOR CHARITY Not a newproduct per say, I know, but this has been chosen because of its angelic purpose, and also, because, I think it is one of the cleverest ways to introduce charitable giving to the masses. Red Lion Foods have done it too. Having the charitable association with Help for Heroes on fried breakfast items such as these (and as the cooked breakfast is quintessentially British) means a patriotic effect is given to the products, making them all themore likely to catch the consumer’s eye. I alsowanted to pick up on the pack design of this product, which I again adore, as it looks craft-like and the green pack offers shelf stand out. It also looksmilitary in stylewithout taking itself too seriously.

.TIME FOR A CHANGE Released in Tesco in the middle of last year, Timestrip toothbrushes offered an in-built Mother of sorts, telling you when to replace your toothbrush. Ideal, I say, as many people prolong their brushes’ lives far longer than appropraiatewithout even knowing. Theword ‘REPLACE’ shows up clearly when the brush needs replacing. And there we have it - a solution for an actual problem.Good year folks!
