Explore Community!
Act Local—Explore Your Community! Take the Exploration Pledge. Put your hand on your heart and promise yourself to keep “discovering”!
Respect your Natives. Who were the Native people of your local community? Was their culture affected by the exploration of newcomers? Can their traditional knowledge be of value to your community today? Explore and make your findings public! Write an article to the local newspaper, or arrange and invite your community to a “Native Knowledge Day.” Share your experience with fellow explorers at 01: Explore Zone of Zones in Explore at PolarHusky.com.
Create a community expedition. Create an auto tour map, audiotape, “virtual” website tour, or walking plan of significant or curious places in your city or county that outsiders would be interested to know about. Share it with your local tourist office—and with the rest of us in 01: Explore Zone of Zones in Explore at PolarHusky.com.
Your zip code in National Geographic magazine! Go to Your National Geographic ZipUSA. Check out the ZipUSA articles by National Geographic—and make your own ZipMyTown article or presentation. Post it in the collaboration zone 01: Explore Zone of Zones in Explore at PolarHusky. com. Who knows, your article might inspire National Geographic to feature your community next!
To nominate your community, send it straight to the desktop of a National Geographic editor via e-mail to: zip@nationalgeographic.com.
Or you can take the snail mail route and send your suggestion to: P.O. Box 96095, Washington, DC 20090-6095
Inspire the rest of us by posting your results and outcomes and entering the Zone contest at PolarHusky.com
