Module 2 • Geology: A Time and Place A Changing Climate for Food
In class, you have studied and discussed the nutrition and health of Alaskan Inupiaq, including the impact of climate change on the Native community.
Now it’s time to expand and focus your study to include your own community. Start by reviewing the background section of this student page. Working in small groups or as a class, you will read and consider the information here concerning Point Hope, one of the communities on the route of this year’s Team GoNorth! adventure learning expedition.
Then, in Part I of the student page, you will learn how to conduct a survey in your community to learn more about the impact of climate change on food security in your region.
Finally, using the resources in Part II, you will translate your learning into information that can be used to lobby your regional government officials to take steps to improve food security in the face of climate change.
