Working in your team of three, you are going to be making snow goggles similar to those traditionally used by Kalaallit in Greenland and their ancestors, ancient Inuit hunters, to investigate the field of view (FOV) with this traditional invention!
Materials
your three Student Pages (3 copies of pattern A and pattern B) 3 pairs of scissors 2 meter-sticks 2 chairs scotch tape
Procedure: Part I. Snow Goggle Construction and Observation
1. Each of you cut out snow goggle patterns A and B on the next two pages and assemble both of them.
2. Put on a pair of goggles. Make sure to place them so they fit like glasses, resting on the bridge of your nose comfortably, but not wrapped around your face.
Look up and down, right and left. Try this with each of the two patterns.
How is your vision? Does it seem different depending on which pattern you are wearing? Write your detailed observations here (without wearing the goggles!).
