1. Insert the 1⁄4-inch copper feeder tube into the larger 1⁄2-in. plastic tube opening. Attach funnels to the upper ends of both the inner copper tube and the outsider plastic tube, as shown in Figure
2. Angle the copper tube away from the inner tube, and place a cup under each tube opening as shown.
2. Prepare two cups: one with water at 100 degrees F (40°C) and one at 50 degrees F (10°C).
3. Slowly and steadily pour the warm water into the outer, plastic tube and cold water into the inner, copper tube at the same time and the same rate.
4. Record the ending temperature of the water in both cups in the table below. Repeat the experiment to complete the table.
5. Now repeat the experiment, but this time pour the hot water through the inner tube and the cold water through the outer tube. Record the results and repeat to complete the table.
