The previous issue of Interplay (05/2010)
went straight from the presses to SUREX- PO, which was held for the 9th time in War- saw from 14th to 16th October. We write all about it in this issue. In this issue we also have articles on other important European trade shows that took place before SUREX- PO, such as EAS and ENADA. We begun co- operation with three new associations, the Association of Owners of Playgrounds, En- tertainment Industry Employers Associa- tion (replacing the Association of Employ- ers Operating Chance Games), and the Polish Association of Gastronomy Premis- es.
Due to the dynamically changing situ-
ation in the entertainment industry caused from one side by the new gambling law, and the other by the growing sector of playgrounds and amusement pakrs, we de- cided to increase the number of articles on the latter category. Our magazine is distributed mainly by
subscription and is designed for individu- als and companies that make up the Polish amusement market and those wanting to invest in the segment. Aside from reports we try to inform of
changes taking place in the Polish legisla- tion (most of which aren’t too good for en- trepreneurs) and the effects these changes cause. Unfortunately it seems like the fabled
Polish entrepreneurship is starting to sink among tens of thousands of rules, a lot of which are downright absurd. The creation of new regulations seems to have no end, Prime Minister Tusk moved his office to the Sejm and it seems like soon, he’ll start liv- ing there. It is almost grotesque that the four political parties that are in the Sejm are almost fully financed by the citizens. Our only hope is that maybe all this will collapse under its own weight just like the previous “only fair and equitable” system. Maybe we’ll live it. The fiscal vice grip is only getting tight-
er, which surely won’t better the profitabil- ity of various projects within the industry. Unfortunately the government seems to have an ambitious program of „lowering taxes by increasing them”. The return of Mr Belka, the creator of the savings tax (known colloquially as the „extortion tax”), to the ruling class is a model example of this. Inside the issue, aside from the rela-

tions from aforementioned trade shows, I recommend the feature on IAAPA Attrac- tions Expo in Orlando, an article about the first playground from a Swedish investor in Gdańsk, our usual correspondence from Germany and the article on the miniature park near Częstochową. We congratulate the Borowiak brothers
on a distinction at the Golden Pony Awards in the amusement park category and we wish all the best to the
parkmania.pl portal with whom we started co-operating. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year
to all our Readers, Subscribers, Advertisers and Organisations of the amusement in- dustry. Let’s hope the coming year it will be better than the previous one.
