Rosemont, IL — This year’s SMTA International at the Donald Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont has scheduled its conference for Sept. 28 to Oct. 2, and the exhibition runs Sept. 30 to Oct. 1, 2014. The Opening Keynote Session,


titled “The Internet of Everything and the Cisco Connected Supply Chain” will be provided by Jeff Gallinat, Senior Vice President of Cisco Supply Chain Operations on Tuesday, September 30 from 8:00 to 10:00am in Room 46/48. Gallinat will share on the impor-


tance of an Internet of Everything approach that delivers more value to companies than just the Internet of Things. The number of connected


devices, sensors, objects and other “things” is expected to grow to over 50 billion by the year 2020. The Internet of Everything, which includes People, Process, Data and Things, brings new opportunities and value in the manu- facturing industry through automa- tion, sensors, and data, to name a few. As the executive sponsor of Cisco Supply Chain Innovation, he will also share the current approach for Cisco’s Connected Supply Chain and the value to Cisco’s customers and share- holders. 2014 electronica 50th Munich Hosts


Munich, Germany — electronica is cel- ebrating its 50th anniversary, and will once again be the industry platform for exchange of information and expertise about electronics. From November 11 to 14, 2014, visitors to the New Munich Trade Fair Centre, in Munich, Ger - many will be able to see the very latest developments in the electronics indus- try — from components and systems to electronic applications and services. This year’s international trade fair re - volves around automotive, embedded systems, medical electronics and light- ing, as well as the overarching themes of security and energy efficiency. The program of conferences and


forums will explore these exhibition topics in greater depth. It has been held every two years in Munich since 1964 and presents innovations from


the entire range of products and servic- es in the electronics industry. electron- ica 2012 was attended by 73,051 visi- tors and 2.669 exhibitors. Exhib ition space was 142,500 square meters. The focus of the trade show will


be on automotive, embedded sys- tems, medical electronics and light- ing, as well as the issues of security and energy efficiency. This is reflect- ed in the electronica Forum, in panel discussions and lectures. A highlight of the show, the CEO

manufacturing management, and fac- tory quality. Prior to joining Cisco in 2008, Jeff was Vice President of Global Manufacturing at Lenovo Group. He was a leading operational executive in the initial business inte- gration, and led the design and re- engineering of Lenovo’s global opera- tional footprint in China, India, Bra - zil, US, Mexico, and Central Europe. Jeff joined Lenovo after a 23-


year career with IBM. He spent six years as IBM’s General Manager of International Information Products Co (IIPC) in Shenzhen, China, a joint venture between IBM and Great Wall Computer. During this time, IIPC grew into one of China’s largest and leading foreign enterprises, achieved a growth rate of over 3,000 percent and became one of the top five exporters in China, with ship- ments to over 120 companies. Prior to that, Jeff worked for IBM for 17 years in the United States, where he held several leadership assignments in supply chain, engineering, pro- curement, and planning. Jeff holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering (Summa Cum Laude) from the Georgia Institute of Technology and attended the


Harvard Business School’s Program for Management Development. This year the SMTA celebrates


30 years of building skills, sharing practical experience and developing solutions in the industry. SMTA will celebrate with an Anniversary Dinner and Oktoberfest Party during SMTA International at Hofbrauhaus Rosemont on Tuesday, September 30. Tickets are $25 and attendees should register online. The fee covers dinner, drinks, entertainment, and a fun evening of networking. Technical Sessions are 1.5 hour
