Wilsonville, OR — New from Mentor Graphics Corporation (NASDAQ: MENT) is its MicReD® Industrial Power Tester 1500A for power cycling and thermal testing of elec- tronics components to simulate and measure lifetime performance. The unit tests the reliability of power electronic components that are increasingly used in industries such as automotive and transportation including hybrid and electrical vehi- cles and trains, power generation and converters, and renewable ener- gy applications such as wind tur- bines. The tester is the only commer- cially available thermal testing prod- uct that combines both power cycling and thermal transient measure- ments with structure function analy- sis while providing data for real-time failure-cause diagnostics. The tester can per- form power cycling tests of metal- oxide semiconductor field-effect tran- sistors (MOSFETs), insulated-gate bipolar transistors (IGBTs) and power diodes. The tester provides a user-friendly touch-screen interface and can record a broad range of infor- mation during test, such as current, voltage and die temperature sensing; and detailed structure function analysis to record changes in the package’s thermal structure. The test fixtures are closed manually, and then opened automatically when positive test results are achieved. The positive test results can be indicated by a green light, with negative results shown by an optionally available red light- emitting-diode (LED) indicator. In addition to the MA 21xx


series systems, the firm has devel- oped the innovative MA 32xx series of manual test fixtures for rugged in- field applications requiring durable operation. The MA 32xx series test fixtures build upon the achieve- ments of the MA 21xx series test fix- tures, and feature a tall guided par- allel stroke of about 22mm. They are also designed and constructed for long lifecycles, rated for more than 2 million contact strokes at 2N contact force under laboratory conditions. For applications requiring high-


current testing, the HSS-621 and HSS-623 M series high-current probes can handle currents to 75 A and are designed to test increasingly smaller components at those higher current levels. They are available with different tip styles and configu- rations and are constructed to handle the demands of in-field applications. The firm recently announced


the high-current probe HSS-624 M high-current probe with Kelvin con- tact for testing to 100 A. It has been developed for simultaneously trans- ferring high currents and carrying out voltage measurement directly on the contact pads (four-pole measure- ment). INGUN is currently represented
