The foundation of HDP User Group lies with its multi-company cooperation on technical issues. Members contribute resources needed for run- ning these projects and share results. Henkel Makes Strategic Equity


Investment in Vitriflex Irvine, CA — The Electronics Group of Henkel has made a strategic equity in- vestment in and signed a joint development agreement (JDA) with Vitriflex, Inc. Under the terms of the agreement, Henkel will work with the ultra-barrier film innovator to develop customized solutions for the display market. Vitriflex’s nov- el barrier technology enables a flexible, transparent ultra-barrier film with low water vapor and oxygen transport rates (WVTR and OTR) that meet the needs of new products employing OLED materials, among others. Vitriflex has devel- oped a unique barrier film technology that utilizes a proprietary roll-to-roll (R2R) process to deliver high-performance ultra-barrier films in an easy-to-integrate form factor. Delivering a flexible polymer film with glass-like properties in high volume has been the ambition of barrier film specialists for many years but, to

Bel Fuse to Acquire


Emerson Network Power Jersey City, NJ — Bel Fuse Inc. (NASDAQ:BELFA) (NASDAQ:BELFB) has en- tered into a definitive agreement to acquire the Emerson Network Power Con- nectivity Solutions (ECS) business of Emerson Inc. (NYSE:EMR). Bel will pay approximately $98 million in cash to acquire the ECS business, which had 2013 revenue of approximately $83 million. The acquisition, which is subject to reg- ulatory clearance and other customary closing conditions, is expected to close in the second quarter of 2014. Dan Bernstein, Bel’s president, said, “This is Bel’s third major acquisition in the past 14 months; all together, these acquisitions will increase our revenue from $283 million, pre-acquisition, to approximately

Varitron Group Acquires Altronics


Saint-Hubert, Quebec, Canada — EMS provider Varitron Group Inc. has ac- quired Altronics Manufacturing, Inc., a company specializing in high-technol- ogy electronic contract manufacturing services in the U.S. Altronics, based in southern New Hampshire, serves New England and the rest of the United States. It has the technical expertise and operational flexibility to handle a va- riety of PCB assemblies and value-added services. Altronics’ robust capabili- ties allow it to service commercial, military, industrial and medical customers. The entire current senior Altronics management will stay on, and new jobs will be created, due to the higher volumes of business that are anticipated.
