Ancient palaces, bustling bazaars and traditional Anatolian towns are all part of this journey through Eastern Turkey. Travelling deep into the rugged mountains we admire breathtaking views of Mount Ararat and enjoy the sunset from the summit of Nemrut Dagi. Along the way we discover the beautiful Isak Pasha Palace, the ‘hanging’ Sumela Monastery and the prehistoric site of Gobekli Tepe.


15 day tour itinerary


Day 1 Join tour Istanbul. Day 2 Istanbul Enjoy a guided city tour, including Sultanahmet Square and the Blue Mosque. Fly to Trabzon. Day 3 Trabzon and Sumela Monastery Take a walking tour of the sea port of Trabzon. Travel inland to explore the ‘hanging’ Sumela Monastery. Day 4 Erzurum Visit Erzurum and its major monuments including ‘The Three Tombs’ and the Twin Minaret Medrese. Travel on to Kars. Day 5 Ani Churches, Mount Ararat and Isak Pasha Palace Visit the wonderful Ani Churches. Continue to Dogubeyazit enjoying views of Mount Ararat the legendary resting place of Noah’s Ark, before visiting the

impressive Isak Pasha Palace; a fusion of Seljuk, Ottoman, Persian, Georgian and Armenian architectural styles. Days 6/7 Lake Van Drive to Van via the ancient fortifi cations at Hosap and Cavustepe. Take a boat trip across Lake Van to Akdamar Island and visit the 10th century Armenian ‘Church of the Holy Cross’. Days 8/9 Mardin Travel to the beautiful city of Mardin, famous for its Arab-style stone architecture in the old town. Visit the ruins at Hasankeyf and the Saffron Monastery. Days 10/11 Urfa Visit the prehistoric site of worship at Gobekli Tepe. Travel to Urfa and enjoy a city tour of the old town. Explore the lively markets and


visit the ‘beehive houses’ of Harran. Days 12/13 Mount Nemrut Travel to Nemrut Dagi (2150m). Explore the area on foot and walk to the summit for sunset. We also visit the Roman Cendere Bridge and the ruins at Arsameia. Day 14 Gaziantep Enjoy a free afternoon to sample some of the delicious local cuisine and explore the Gaziantep markets. There is the option to visit the museum and the 6th century castle that overlooks the town. Day 15 Tour ends Gaziantep.
