On this tour we cycle along the rural backroads of Vietnam, where the local people share our love of travelling by bicycle. Along the way we explore the charming cities of Hanoi, Hue, Old Saigon and Hoi An and visit the beautiful Halong Bay. We also discover the tropical beaches of Nha Trang and the hidden jungle valley of My Son, the ancient capital of the Cham Empire.


14 day tour itinerary


Day 1 Join tour Hanoi. Explore the Old Quarter. Day 2 Hanoi Discover the charm of the ancient city on a morning sightseeing tour. Cycle around Westlake. Day 3 Red River Delta Ride on quieter backroads and learn about Vietnamese traditions and culture. Stop at an artisan village and sample delicious local food. Day 4 Ha Long Bay Cruise among a myriad of jungle-topped islets. Drive to Ninh Binh stopping to watch a traditional water puppet show. Day 5 Karst paddies Green rice paddies surrounded by dramatic limestone pinnacles provide the backdrop for the cycle ride. Take the overnight train to Hue. Days 6/7 Hue Explore the ancient Imperial citadel, tombs and pagodas by bike. Days 8/10 Hoi An Enjoy a coastal bike ride with views from Hai Van Pass. Visit the ancient sea port of Hoi An. Visit My Son, an ancient capital of the Cham Empire in a hidden jungle valley. Day 11 Nha Trang beach A boat trip to islands with white sandy beaches. Swim and snorkel.


Day 12 Saigon Explore Ho Chi Minh City and the thriving Old Town. Day 13 Cu Chi Tunnels Cycle to the underground Viet Cong hideout. Day 14 Tour ends Ho Chi Minh City.

Included Bike: We provide different Mountain or Hybrid bikes at each location please refer to tour notes for more details. Route and Terrain: On this tour we cycle 223 km over nine days (an average of 25 km per day). The route follows mainly level terrain on quiet back-roads with about 90% on tarmac and 10% on earth/gravel. A support vehicle accompanies the rides on days 3, 5, 8 and 13. We have graded the route as easy. Transport: Bicycle, bus and train. Group Size: Generally 10 - 16.
