Accommodation: 1 night basic hostel, 2 nights basic homestay, 1 night simple cabin, 4 nights standard hotel and 1 night standard lodge. Meals: 9 breakfasts, 1 lunch and 2 dinners are included. Tour Staff: Explore Tour Leader, boat crew, trek crew and driver(s). Transport: Bus, boat, fl ight and ferry. Trekking Details: The trek to the base-camp of Mount Kinabalu (Laban Rata) is a fairly arduous ascent from about 1900m to 3272m. You should defi nitely be in good physical shape to attempt the climb and come well prepared with warm clothing, gloves and good boots as the summit is very cold. Accommodation at Laban Rata is in a hostel and has basic dormitory style accommodation. If you do not wish to climb Mt Kinabalu at all you may prefer to stay a second night in the hotel we use on day six at your own expense. Please advise your Tour Leader on arrival in Borneo should you wish to arrange this. Group size: Generally 10 - 16.


Borneo’s natural wonders


A classic wildlife adventure through Sabah, Borneo’s northern wilderness. We visit the orang-utans at feeding time and watch proboscis monkeys swing through the treetops of the rainforest. We also have the chance to trek up mighty Mount Kinabalu, relax in bubbling hot springs and swim in the crystal waters of the South China Sea.


10 day tour itinerary


Day 1 Join tour Kota Kinabalu. Day 2 Orang-utans Visit the apes at feeding time in the world’s largest rehabilitation centre. Take a canopy walk at the Rainforest Discovery Centre and look out for the 250 species of bird that inhabit the area. Days 3/4 Bilit homestay and wildlife Stay with the Orang Sungai people and look out for crocodiles and proboscis monkeys on

cruises along the Kinabatangan River Day 5 Poring Hot Springs Bathe in the naturally heated waters and take a canopy walk high through the trees. Days 6/7 Mount Kinabalu Trek through the national park searching for colourful butterfl ies and rare orchids. There is the option to ascend Mount Kinabalu, South-east Asia’s highest peak (4095m). Days 8/9 Beringgis Beach


Relax, swim or snorkel in the clear blue waters of the South China Sea. Take a boat trip to idyllic Manukan Island and there is the option to try whitewater rafting. Day 10 Tour ends Beringgis Beach.
