Travelling through the heart of former Yugoslavia, we discover four countries that have been shaped by a rich but turbulent history. Against a backdrop of jagged mountain peaks and dramatic coastlines we explore several UNESCO World Heritage cities, fascinating old towns and enjoy the beautiful scenery of Durmitor National Park.
12 day tour itinerary
Day 1 Join tour Dubrovnik Airport (Croatia). Transfer to Djenovici (Montenegro). Day 2 Kotor Spend a full day in Kotor exploring the historic city. Take to the azure waters of Kotor Bay on a boat trip across the fjord. Day 3 Skadar Lake Enjoy a swim in the beautiful Budva Riviera, a 35km long strip of the Adriatic that has some of the coast’s best beaches. Continue to Virpazar and take an optional trip to Skadar Lake. Day 4 Durmitor National Park Travel to this UNESCO World Heritage Site to admire the mountain scenery and hike through the thick pine forests towards the waters of Crno Jezero (the Black Lake). Visit the 13th

century Orthodox monastery at Moraca and the impressive Djurdjevica Tara Bridge. Day 5 Alpine Museum Cross the border into Serbia and visit the mountainside village of Sirogonjo, home to a remarkable open-air museum, declared a national monument in 1983. Day 6 Mokra Gora Drive to Mokra Gora, a small village on the border with Bosnia-Herzegovina. Take an optional ride on the Sargan Eight Railway. Days 7/8 Sarajevo Visit the famous ‘Bridge on the Drina’ from the novel by Nobel prize winning author Ivo Andri. Drive into Bosnia-Herzegovina. Spend two nights in the capital Sarajevo. Day 9 Mostar Explore this historic
city, (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) founded by the Turks in the 15th century. Day 10 Trebinje The fi nal day of the tour is spent in the town of Trebinje. Visit Tvrdros Monastery, which dates back to the 15th century. Day 11 Dubrovnik Tour the fortifi ed medieval city, (a World Heritage Site). Drive across the border to Prcanj National Park in Montenegro. Day 12 Transfer to Dubrovnik airport where the tour ends.
