12 day tour itinerary


Day 1 Join tour Kathmandu. Day 2 Paro Fly to Paro. Visit the Rimpung Dzong Monastery. Days 3/4 Punakha Cross the Dochu La Pass (3050m) for a sight of the Himalaya on the horizon. Visit Chimmi Lhakhang - ‘Mad Monk’ - Monastery. In Punakha explore the Saturday market and 17th century Dzong (fort). Take a walk to the Khamsung Yuley Chorten and visit a local farmhouse. Day 5 Phobjika Valley Pass through


this valley looking out for the rare black-necked cranes and Himalayan black bears. Visit Gangtey Monastery. Days 6/7 Thimpu Explore the sights of the capital including the Tashicho Dzong, Bhutan’s religious centre and seat of its government. Visit a thangka painting workshop. Day 8 Paro Discover the Kyichu Lhakhang temple and hike up to the scenic Taktsang ‘Tiger’s Nest’ Monastery perched on a cliff above

Paro Valley. Day 9 Paro Festival A full day at this famous annual festival. Days 10/11 Kathmandu Return to the Nepalese capital for a walking tour. Explore the temples at Pashupatinath and Bodnath. There’s also the option of a scenic fl ight around Everest. Day 12 Tour ends Kathmandu.

Festivals in Bhutan


Each departure visits one of Bhutan’s incredible annual festivals. Celebrated in the courtyards of the Dzong (monastery) the festivals feature monks performing traditional dances, often wearing terrifying masks used to scare away evil spirits.
