This exciting journey explores the fi ery and mysterious land of the Aztecs and the Maya. From the valleys of Oaxaca in Mexico to the jungles of Guatemala, we tour colonial cities, discover ancient sites and search out the perfect locations for some down time. We visit the impressive Mayan sites of Tikal and Palenque, as well as lesser known sites such as Monte Alban, Bonampak and Yaxchila, and the pyramids at Teotihuacan. We also take a boat trip through the impressive Sumidero Canyon and explore the historic city of Antigua.


15 day tour itinerary


Day 1 Join tour Mexico City. Days 2/3 Mexico City Tour the capital, including the anthropological museum. Visit the pyramids at Teotihuacan. Days 4/5 Oaxaca Explore the colonial city, and the ancient complex of pyramids, terraces and rock carvings of Monte Alban. Day 6 Chiapa del Corzo Visit the 2000-year-old Cyprus tree in Santa Maria del Tule and the Miztec/ Zapotec site of Mitla. Travel to Chiapa del Corzo and explore the provincial capital. Days 7/8 San Cristobal Take a boat trip through the vast Sumidero Canyon and continue to the colonial town of San Cristobal. Days 9/10 Palenque Take a refreshing swim under the waterfalls of Agua Azul. Travel to the exotic jungles of

Palenque and explore the Mayan ruins. Days 11/12 Remote sites and rainforest Explore the ruins of Bonampak and Yaxchilan and discover the well-preserved Mayan murals and carvings. Continue through the rainforest, travelling by bus and boat to Guatemala. Day 13 Tikal Visit the Mayan metropolis and explore the magnifi cent 20-storey high temples and pyramids. Drive to Flores. Day 14 San Ignacio We cross the Belize border to San Ignacio on the River Macal. Options included canoeing on the river. Day 15 Belize City We drive to Belize City where the tour ends.
