Trek to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro, Uhuru Peak (5895m), the highest point in Africa
We trek to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro, Uhuru Peak (5895m), the highest point in Africa. Following the little-used and scenic Lemosho route we climb and descend on different paths, walking through the mountain’s different climatic regions and admiring the changing plant and animal life. Highlights include the ice fi elds of Kibo, the daunting Barranco Wall and the breathtaking views from the summit itself.
10 day tour itinerary
Day 1 Join tour Moshi. Day 2 Kilimanjaro trek From Lemosho Glades walk through forests to Big Tree Camp (2780m). Day 3 Shira Camp (3500m) Trek to Shira enjoying views of Mount Meru and the Rift Valley along the way. Day 4 Northern Ice Fields Trek below the ice fi elds of Kibo. Optional walk to Lent Hills. Spend the night at Moir Hut (4175m). Day 5 Lava Tower (4640m) Climb volcanic landscapes to the camp at Lava Tower. Optional trek to Arrow Glacier Hut (4800m). Day 6 Karanga Valley (4035m) Descend into the Barranco Valley (3960m) before climbing the Barranco Wall to Karanga. Day 7 Barafu Camp (4640m) Climb the lunar landscape and spend the night at the camp at Barafu. Day 8 Kilimanjaro ascent Trek to Stella Point (5700m) and climb to the summit of the Uhuru Peak

Forest Camp Big Tree
(5895m). Make a long descent to Millennium Camp (3790m). Day 9 Mweka Gate (1630m) Return to verdant forest and Mweka Gate before transferring back to Moshi. Day 10 Arusha National Park Relax or take an optional game drive in search of giraffes, elephants, hippos and buffaloes. Tour ends in Moshi.
Note that our trek is two days longer than most other Kilimanjaro ascents. This is to improve your chances of reaching the summit and to maximise your enjoyment.

Accommodation: 7 nights basic camping and 2 nights standard lodge. Meals: 9 breakfasts, 8 lunches and 9 dinners are included. Tour Staff: Explore Tour Leader, local guide(s), porter(s), cook and driver(s). Transport: Bus. Trekking Details: This is an 8-day trek with an average of 5-7 hours trekking each day, except on the ascent of the Uhuru Peak which involves 12 to 14 hours of trekking. Generally we walk at altitudes between 3000m and 5000m and we reach a maximum altitude of 5895m. The trek is fully supported by porters and staff. Group size: Generally 12 to 16.
