Easy walks and gastronomic discovery in northern Tuscany


A walking tour with a gastronomic twist! Staying on a working farm (agriturismo) in northern Tuscany’s Garfagnana Valley our days are spent enjoying easy-going walks in the timeless countryside and discovering the regions’ magnifi cent local produce and culinary specialities. With visits to wine, olive oil, cheese and salami producers, rambles to forage for mushrooms and bilberries and cooking demonstrations by our hosts, we’ll discover why Italian cuisine is considered to be one of the world’s best.


8 day tour itinerary


Day 1 Join tour Pisa airport and transfer to our base for the week on a farm in northern Tuscany’s Garfagnana Valley. Day 2 Woodland Rambles Rambling through woodlands and fi elds along old drovers’ paths known only to the locals, we reach a water mill where chestnut and corn fl our are still ground. Before supper we learn the secrets of how various local dishes are produced with aperitif in hand! Day 3 Cooking and culture After touring a farm where cheese and salami are produced, we enjoy an interactive cooking demonstration and lunch. In the afternoon we explore historic Barga. Day 4 Lucca Today has been left free with the option to visit the cities of

Lucca and/or Pisa by train. Day 5 Garfagnana Flavours At the northern end of the Garfagnana Valley we visit a cheese producer and enjoy walks to a castle and foraging for mushrooms (in season). Day 6 Villas and wine Walking in the hills outside Lucca we visit some magnifi cent villas and stop off at a vineyard and olive farm for wine and oil tastings. Day 7 Apennines Enjoy a fi ne ridge walk searching for bilberries and other local delicacies. Day 8 Transfer to Pisa airport where tour ends.

Centre-based in the Serchio Valley


We base ourselves in a comfortable and welcoming agriturismo (working farm and guesthouse) situated in the Serchio Valley with easy access to some of Northern Tuscany’s fi nest walking. Surrounded by the magnifi cent scenery of the Alpi Apuane Mountains, guests are accommodated in both the main farm building (a former barn) and independent chalets which have been converted from the farm outhouse buildings.
