NEPAL The Other Side of Everest OE Trek on the Tibetan plateau including the north Everest Base Camp
On this exciting trekking adventure we enjoy a high altitude trek from Tsurphu - the land of the Drokpa nomads - to Lake Namtso in Central Tibet. We spend time in the Tibetan capital Lhasa, including the Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple and Norbulingka Palace. We also trek up to Base Camp on the north side of Everest before following the Friendship Highway back to Nepal.
23 day tour itinerary
Day 1 Join tour Kathmandu. Day 2 Kathmandu Take a walking tour through the main bazaar and Durbar Square. Days 3/4 Tsetang Fly to Gongkar airport and drive to Tsetang. Take a ferry to Samye Monastery and climb up to Yambulagang Monastery. Days 5/7 Lhasa Drive to the Tibetan capital and explore the Dalai Lama’s medieval city: including the Potala Palace, Jokhang and Norbulingka. Day 8 Ganden and Rafting Follow the Kora (pilgrimage circuit) around Ganden Monastery. Optional

Lhasa Tsurphu Rest day
whitewater rafting on the Brahmaputra River. Days 9/11 Tsurphu trek Begin a three-day high altitude trek through alpine valleys and tundra inhabited by the seminomadic Drokpa people. Days 12/13 Lake Namtso Travel north to Tashi Do Monastery on the shores of Lake Namtso - one of the world’s highest at 4700m. Day 14 Gyantse Drive over the Shugu La Pass (5300m) to Gyantse. Days 15/17 Pilgrims and Monasteries Trek along the pilgrimage route through rugged mountains over the Chak La Pass (4470m) to Ngor

Monastery. Spend a night in the city of Shigatse and visit Tashilumpo Monastery. Days 18/19 Friendship Highway Travel along the Friendship route to the remote Dza Rongphu Monastery. Day 20 Everest Base Camp Trek to the Base Camp (5090m) used by climbers of Everest’s North face. Days 21/22 Kathmandu Continue along the Friendship Highway to Nepal. Day 23 Tour ends Kathmandu.
