The Inca Trail

The Inca Trail in Peru is one of the world’s best-loved trekking adventures. Join us as we follow in the footsteps of the Incas, discovering the mountain citadel of Machu Picchu and other magnifi cent relics of the ‘Empire of the Sun’.

We traverse the Andes: walking in the shadow of snow-capped peaks, through tropical cloud forest and over ‘Dead Woman’s Pass’ (which at 4200m is the highest point on the trek.) Finally, we arrive at the ‘Lost City’ of Machu Picchu. We also visit the ruins of Llaqtapata, Sayaqmarka, Phuyupatamarkca and Winay Wayna, camping beneath the stars and admiring awe-inspiring sunsets and sunrises.

We offer four trekking tours on the Inca Trail. These range from 9 to 20 days, allowing you to combine your trek with visits to the region’s other attractions.

Inca Trail permits and the Lares Trail The Inca Trail is Latin America’s most popular trekking route, and spaces are strictly controlled on a permit basis with only around 200 trekking permits issued per day. Permits often sell out many months in advance. If permits are no longer available for your chosen date or you want to walk on a less trekked trail, we offer an alternative trekking route to Machu Picchu – the Lares Trail. Trekking in this remote region offers an insight into the real lives of the Andean farmers. We walk through soaring mountains, past remote settlements, viewing herds of llamas and alpacas on the trail to Machu Picchu.
