Staying in the charming historic spa town of Ax-Les-Thermes we enjoy walks amongst the spectacular mountain scenery of the French Pyrenees. Discovering remote villages, scenic valleys and idyllic lakes, we also have time to relax in the thermal spa waters or paddle along the Ariege River by canoe.


8 day tour itinerary


Day 1 Join tour at Toulouse airport and drive to Ax-Les-Thermes. Day 2 Mountain walks Follow the Soulane River and trek between villages. Day 3 Pic de Tarbesou Enjoy magnifi cent 360 degree panoramic views! Day 4 Free day You can chose to spend the day canoeing along the Ariege river or relaxing in the warm thermal spa waters. Day 5 Col du Chioula Todays, walk takes you back in time amongst the lives of the Cathars.

Day 6 Aygue Longue Lake Walk through the pastoral landscapes of this scenic valley to a beautiful lake at the base of steep cliffs. Day 7 Etang des Bésines Walk to this lake set amongst pine trees along a pretty mountain trail. Day 8 Drive to Toulouse airport where the tour ends.

Centre-based in Ax-Les-Thermes


Located close to the historic centre of the spa town Ax-Les-Thermes, hotel Grande Cordee was a family home built in the 1930s and offers a calm environment full of traditional character. Private gardens provide the perfect spot to relax and enjoy a beer after a day in the mountains whilst the welcoming restaurant serves up a feast of regional Pyrenean dishes.
