Trekking in the stunning High Tatras Mountains
We begin our adventure into the High Tatras Mountains in Zakopane at the foot of the Polish side of the mountain range and spend a couple of days exploring the nearby beautiful alpine valleys before heading into the heart of the High Tatras National Park. The resort of Tatranska Lominica in Slovakia is nestled amidst the forested foothills. By winter, a ski resort, it’s a trekkers’ paradise during the summer with easy access to the best trails. Containing some of the tallest peaks in Europe between the Alps and the Caucasus, the Tatras are littered with relics of the last ice age; broad valleys carve their way between frost-shattered peaks and over 100 mountain lakes pepper the landscape. Following our exploration we head for the delightful medieval city of Krakow.
8 day tour itinerary
Day 1 Zakopane Join tour Krakow airport. On arrival we transfer to Zakopane and enjoy a gentle walk of the town before taking the funicular up Mount Gubalowka to admire the view. Day 2 Chocholowska Valley We enjoy a full day walking in the largest valley in the Polish Tatras with its rich array of alpine fl ora and fauna. Day 3 Five Lakes Valley Today we’ll have the chance to admire the glistening lakes

and surrounding peaks on our walk through the aptly named Five Lakes Valley. Day 4 Tatranska Magistrala We trek into the heart of the High Tatras Mountains with stunning views of the Tatras basin below. Day 5 Dunajec River Gorge We travel down the Dunajec River Gorge by wooden raft, walk to the spa town of Szczawnica and visit Niedzica Castle. Day 6 Tatras trekking We head back into the

mountains for a further day trekking amidst the rugged peaks, waterfalls and pine-covered slopes. Day 7 Krakow Today we drive to Krakow, where we have an orientation walking tour on arrival and you are then free to explore. Day 8 Tour ends Krakow.
