Jabel Sahro Trek JB Remote mountains of Southern Morocco


On this walking trip we trek through the arid landscapes of the Jebel Sahro region and explore the valleys, dotted with date palm oases. We visit the sheer walls of the Bab n’ Ali rock pinnacles, camp by an oasis and explore mountain villages, meeting nomads along the way.


13 day tour itinerary


Day 1 Join tour Marrakech. Day 2 Jebel Sahro Drive over the Tizi-n-Tichka pass to El Kelaa Mgouna. Trek to the hamlet of Ait Youl. Day 3 Afoughal Cross the rocky region between the Dades River and the mountains. Day 4 Tagmoute Walk through the Amalou-n-Ouchchene Valley and spend the night in a village house. Day 5 Tamou Trek towards central Jebel Sahro. Day 6 Ighazioun-n-Imlas village Walk through the hamlet of Akerkour and camp just outside Ighazioun-n-Imlas.

Day 3: 5hrs Afoughal Tagmoute


Day 7 Bab n’Ali Relax in the village. There is an option to take an excursion to the impressive rock pinnacles of Bab n’Ali. Day 8 Taggourt Plateau Walk through a gorge to see the Téate de Chameau rock formation and chimney-like rock pinnacles of the Tassigdelt Tamajgalt plateau. Camp in Riche village. Day 9 Ighissi Trek to the Abid Plateau (1800m) and spend the night in Kasbah ruins. Day 10 Irihoui Walk to Tizi-n-Tmighcht (2180m). Enjoy lunches at Irihoui and camp

near a small oasis. Day 11 Ouarzazate Descend into the Bouizergane Valley to Ait Youl. Drive to Ouarzazate. Day 12 Marrakech Return to the city and enjoy an evening visit to the Djemma El Fna square to see the jugglers, acrobats and snake charmers. Day 13 Tour ends Marrakech.
