Invelux Follows the Crowd with Order for Veeco K-series Tools


Veeco’s K-series Gallium Nitride (GaN) MOCVD systems will support Invenlux’s production ramp at Its China LED factory


Veeco Instruments has announced that it has shipped multiple TurboDisc K-Series GaN Metal Organic Chemical Vapor Deposition (MOCVD) systems to Invenlux Corporation to ramp capacity at its factory in Haiyan City, China.


Invenlux is a U.S.-based light emitting diode manufacturer whose proprietary technology produces LED epi wafers and chips.


“ Invenlux has a history of producing reliable and efficient blue and green LEDs for LCD backlighting, traffic lights, full color displays, and general illumination,” commented Chris Yan, CEO of Invenlux. “We continue to select Veeco as our supplier of choice for our LED capacity ramp because we believe their MOCVD tools provide a proven advantage in productivity, and a lower cost of ownership when compared to competitive systems.”

Veeco & Aixtron Glow with Elec-Tech Orders of $337.5mn


The MOCVD equipment reactor providers will supply a total of 130 systems for LED epitaxial wafer production.


Shenzhen-listed Elec-Tech International has announced that its two wholly-owned subsidiaries plan to order 130 sets of MOCVD tools and accessories from Veeco Instruments and Aixtron at US $337.5 million.


Wuhu based Elec-Tech Optoelectronic Science and Technology will order 70 (Metal-Organic Chemical Vapor Deposition) MOCVD reactors and accessories from Veeco and 30 from Aixtron.


Elec-Tech Optoelectronic, based in Yangzhou, is to sign an agreement ordering 30 MOCVD tools from Veeco.


Elec-Tech specializes in design, production and sale of Opto-electronics including LED epitaxy, LED chips, encapsulation, LED lighting and LED display, small home appliances, mini & particular motor and wind power equipments.


The firm started to cooperate with South Korea’s Epivalley this year to produce LED epitaxy and chips. The total investments include 100 sets of MOCVD devices, and ownership of patents for global sale.


The Yangzhou and Wuhu city governments will grant CNY 8 million to CNY 10 million subsidy for each MOCVD device bought by local enterprises


Osram 44% efficient LED is a Record Breaker


Osram claim the record efficiency has been achieved by the latest generation of InGaAlP 615nm red chips accommodated in a Golden Dragon Plus package.


Developers at Osram Opto Semiconductors have succeeded in increasing the efficiency of red thin-film LEDs by 30% – a new record. The latest generation of thin-film chips benefit from an optimized chip platform which has potential for further improvements. This boost in efficiency
