At this year’s SEMICON Taiwan, speakers from TSMC, IMEC and Dow Electronics Materials will address topics focusing on technology advancement through innovative collaboration.

Presentations from Applied Materials, IMEC, Morgan Stanley, Nokia and Yole Développement will focus on semiconductor market outlook, development of 3D packaging and testing technology, MEMS technology and design for green manufacturing.

The “Innovative Technology Award” and “Best Contribution Award” will be given to important key business leaders for their valuable contribution to the industry. The dinner is exclusively for invited industry leaders.

So far, there are 510 exhibiting companies using more than 1,100 booths at SEMICON Taiwan 2010.

Aixtron Expands Its Customer Base With MOCVD Tools In Bulgaria

The firm has announced its first order from Incotex Group for three mass production reactors of Gallium Nitride (GaN) High Brightness LEDs.

Aixtron has announced an order for three mass production MOCVD systems for GaN HB-LED production from the Incotex Group, a new Aixtron customer in Bulgaria. Incotex placed the order in the first quarter of 2010 and the systems will be delivered from the third quarter of 2010 onwards. The local Aixtron Europe support team will commission the new reactors at the company’s purposebuilt facility in Bulgaria.

Plamen Dochev, VP Incotex, comments, “Deciding on the Aixtron reactor package was straightforward for us. This technology is clearly the favored route to economic and efficient high quality volume production of high-brightness LEDs. We can also see that the technological leadership of Aixtron comes with a comprehensive Europe-wide service and support network. There is so much interest in LEDs for general lighting, displays, and other markets thus we are looking forward receiving the very best process equipment and service. This will be of great help to us as we set up the first of a kind manufacturing facility in Bulgaria.”

The new NIST/ University of Colorado system can detect contaminants such as water vapor in arsine gas which can add oxygen, which degrades a semiconductor’s electrical and optical properties.

Purity of ingredients is a constant concern for the semiconductor industry, because a mere trace of contaminants can damage or ruin tiny devices. In a step toward solving a long-standing problem in semiconductor manufacturing, scientists at JILA and collaborators have used their unique version of a “fine-toothed comb” to detect minute traces of contaminant molecules in the arsine gas used to make a variety of photonics devices.

Frank Schulte, VP of Aixtron Europe, adds, “We are pleased to contribute to the expansion of HB- LED technologies in Bulgaria and Russia and are committed to provide full support for Incotex growth and expansion. We are convinced that Incotex has the potential to play a leading role in Eastern Europe for LED Technology and will be an excellent partner. We are looking forward to a long-lasting cooperation.”

The Incotex Holding Company combines a group of companies that are focused on development, production and servicing of a wide range of consumer-related electronic products. Incotex was established in 1992 to develop and produce electronic cash registers but since then the firm has become a powerful and multi-discipline holding with production in Russia.
