LED lighting solutions provider Optiled has again successfully joined with world-renowned LED maker Cree to complete the first phase of the massive lighting upgrade at Singapore’s historic and significant Jurong Town public housing estate.
Built to meet the Singaporean government’s highly precise and stringent standards, this installation is the largest public LED lighting makeover that the Singaporean government has ever conducted in history.
Due to the sheer scale of this installation, Optiled’s extensive expertise in integrating power supply design, thermal management, optical solutions, digital control, mechanical design and LED technology, together with Cree’s lighting-class XLamp XR-E LEDs, were the keys to successfully installing more energy efficient LED lighting fixtures in over 400 of the town’s 588 buildings; altogether 64,000 Optiled LED lighting fixtures with CREE LED components are to be installed.
“As a government project, we knew they would expect our very best, most technically demanding work,” said Peter Chan, managing director of Optiled. “But our experience working with Cree gave us complete confidence we could meet the challenge. Our expertise, combined with Cree’s lighting-class LEDs, enabled us to deliver an outstanding product to Jurong Town.”

Other significant cooperative efforts between Optiled and Cree include LED lighting for a growing number of APAC projects with renowned hotel groups, international banks, retail chains, and more.
Most recently, Optiled won a, “Design Plus powered by Light+Building” award for its ARRAY product series, which is powered by Cree LED components. Optiled was the only Asian company among the 32 winners.
