Making its IBC debut, MicroLock is a compact microphone connector from DPA Microphones. Building on the strengths of DPA’s established MicroDot connector, MicroLock’s locking mechanism and compact design are compatible with a variety of wireless systems, making it easier to switch to a new system without having to replace
microphones. The company says this makes it especially attractive to AV rental companies as it allows them to rent out the same microphone fl eet across the various wireless systems they have in stock. MicroLock’s newly designed locking mechanism gives users a quick, easy and secure connection and an extra layer of protection against accidental disconnection during use; DPA says its upgraded materials and redesigned construction ensure enhanced

reliability and a signifi cantly longer lifespan. MicroLock is fully backwards compatible with existing MicroDot solutions, but the new connector has a more

With an eye – or more accurately, an ear – on delivering greater accessibility, Fraunhofer claims MPEG-H Dialog+ is the world’s fi rst dialogue enhancement to distinguish speech from singing. Making its debut at IBC, the feature intelligently recognises singing voices and excludes them from dialogue enhancement. Based on AI, Dialog+ uses a deep neural network to automatically separate speech from background (music, effects, ambiences) of a fi nal audio mix.

The AirWatch365 remote monitoring service, available through the GatesAir Care programme, is being introduced to international audiences at IBC. AirWatch365 is a 24/7 NOC-based service that provides broadcasters with a dedicated team of RF experts to monitor transmitter performance, analyse conditions and proactively address issues affecting quality of experience and uptime. The
service offers three tiered plans, from basic event-based alarming and notifi cation to remediation services that escalate with higher service levels. Each SLA includes historical performance reports and optimisation suggestions. Visitors to the GatesAir stand can see how AirWatch365 remotely connects to GatesAir’s TV and radio (FM and DAB/DAB+) transmitters, which integrate robust control systems that provide functionality and generate performance data. AirWatch365’s monitoring infrastructure uses a secure
original audio mix that viewers with hearing impairments, for example, can select. This makes it possible for content providers to enhance audio material when only the fi nal audio mix is available. Fraunhofer claims that conventional codecs have struggled to detect singing in a fi lm’s music and to avoid enhancing it, but MPEG-H Dialog+ prevents automatic dialogue enhancement from being applied to singing that occurs in the background. This allows musical passages to retain their full sound quality while still enabling personalisation of dialogue sequences. 8.B80
