GLOBAL COLLABORATION Backlight
BY KIRSTY HAZLEWOOD
Iconik is a cloud-native media asset management platform from Backlight that integrates with existing storage, whether on-prem, in the cloud or hybrid, adding a collaborative layer across the content supply chain. Built-in review tools help eliminate scattered feedback and version mismatches, while keeping media in place. AI-powered metadata and automated workfl ows allow teams to instantly locate the correct version and launch frame-accurate reviews. The company is also showing a desktop player that lets colourists view native 32-bit EXR, DPX or ProRes 4444 fi les at full resolution, while clients review lightweight proxies, ensuring no compromise on quality.
Also on show is an iOS app that
supports mobile reviews and approvals, with all comments and annotations synchronised across desktop, browser and mobile. With this workfl ow, a media manager in Amsterdam can collaborate in real time with a colourist in Dubai, an editor in Sydney and a client in New York, helping teams meet tight deadlines across time zones. The colourist sees the master fi le exactly as intended, while the client can access and approve from an iPhone.
Frame-accurate collaboration enables live creative discussions, replacing asynchronous messaging and signifi cantly reducing approval times. Whether playing, pausing, scrubbing, zooming or switching assets, all users see the same frame at the same moment. Annotations appear instantly across video, stills and PDFs. 1.D09

Alila: ‘The media industry is reliant on fast, reliable and secure fi le transfer’ Tuxera BY ANNE MORRIS
File systems specialist Tuxera is demonstrating Tuxera Fusion SMB, licensed software that it claims can deliver monetisation, effi ciency and productivity gains to media workfl ows. The enterprise-grade SMB server is designed for media networks that require large fi les to be moved quickly and reliably. It scales from tiny microservices containers to massive storage clusters and cloud workfl ows. Tuxera has been a partner of Microsoft since its early days, and Tuxera’s SMB implementation is fully licensed for client use.
Frame-accurate collaboration enables smooth reviews and approvals across devices worldwide
Antti Alila, VP of Enterprise Solutions at Tuxera, said:
“Despite the advances in remote working, the media industry today is reliant on fast, reliable and secure transfer of fi les from servers to workstations, and from site to site. To build these architectures, they need to work with the best providers, which is why we are developing partnerships with top storage specialists, embedding Tuxera Fusion SMB into the networks and workfl ows that power today’s most demanding productions.” Tuxera says it works with a
growing list of media storage partners such as Quantum, Pixitmedia by Datacore and ATTO Technology. It reports that its partnership ecosystem is delivering real productivity and effi ciency gains in mission-critical installations. 5.B06
