NARA SEES THE BIGGER PICTURES FilmLight

BY KEVIN EMMOTT

Introducing a suite of new features to Nara at IBC2025, FilmLight is aiming to further streamline large media workfl ows. Nara provides search tools and accurate, bandwidth-friendly streaming of media fi les irrespective of their encoding or format. The latest features include advanced analytics tools, real-time transcoding capabilities, a new project management feature, as well as tools for notes and comments to aid collaboration across teams and departments. pedestal and full track confi guration. For broadcast studios, MRMC’s RPS-LT is a new iteration of its Roaming Pedestal System (RPS). The RPS-LT integrates the Studiobot LT arm onto the free- roaming platform, offering greater fl exibility and repeatability. This trackless system enables dynamic, otherwise-impossible, camera angles, choreographing safe movements of multiple units within a studio. The RPS-LT provides the creative freedom of robotic arms with the benefi ts of a roaming platform, ensuring clean and safer studio spaces with built-in collision avoidance and FreeD live- position data for VR environments. 11.C20b

systems, including directory size, fi le age, volume capacity and storage distribution by fi le type. In addition, new Secure Client Review functionality enables users to stream media directly to clients with complete security and guaranteed accuracy. Nara’s new Project Management feature provides a unifi ed view across all storage locations, making media instantly accessible and searchable from a single interface, regardless of storage location. Also, a new Consolidate and Transcode feature with support for over 130 codecs and formats means Nara can now transcode any of its supported media fi les into a desired format. 6.C19

MANAGING THE SWITCH TO IP Netgear BY DAVID FOX

Four new models in Netgear’s M4350 managed switch portfolio, all designed for broadcast and pro-AV applications, are on show. New features promise to accelerate deployment and simplify management, with advanced capabilities ideal for IP-based installations, particularly live event and broadcast applications.

They all have LED port identifi cation, matching colours assigned in the Netgear AV OS. This makes it easy for technicians to identify which cables should be connected to specifi c ports, simply by fi nding the corresponding LED colour. All new M4350 models have enhanced SMPTE ST 2110 support, including built-in

grandmaster clock and boundary clock functionality, while maintaining transparent clock capabilities across the entire M4350 and M4250 switch lines. This means they can serve as the primary timing source for a broadcast network. They have secure power connections, using a new mechanism to secure power cables to the chassis, preventing accidental disconnection during live events. Laurent Masia, Netgear Senior Director of Product Line Management for Managed Switches, said: “With enhanced ST 2110 support, intuitive LED port identifi cation and secure power connections, these managed switches are designed in every detail to streamline deployment and deliver rock- solid reliability.” 10.D33
