POCKET ROCKET MICRO CHARGER PAG/Aspectra

BY DAVID FOX

The pocket-sized PAGlink micro charger is about twice as fast as PAG’s previous model. It is bidirectional, so can output to a USB-C device, like a laptop, delivering up to 100W. Matthew Field, Technical Services Manager, PAG, said: “It’s ideal for when you are doing fi lming abroad, thanks to its tiny size. And it’s signifi cantly quicker than our existing micro charger.” The tiny, air-cooled unit comes in Gold mount or V mount versions and is supplied with an E-marked USB-C cable that can cope with the higher power throughput. PAG has also introduced a Cinergy battery that is switchable between 14v and 28v, for use with high power draw cameras, such as the Alexa 35. It simply reads a barcode

(supplied) on the camera’s battery plate and automatically switches to the correct power output. For air-safe transport, users can split it into two 99Wh 14v batteries. 11.B39

The WPE WebKit from Igalia is switching to Skia for 2D graphics rendering. Skia is an open source 2D graphics library that provides common APIs that work across a variety of hardware and software platforms. It serves as the graphics engine for Google Chrome and ChromeOS, Android, Flutter and many other products. According to Igalia Founding Member Xavier Castaño, the switch represents a signifi cant milestone. “The integration of Skia together with other features will put WPE at a different level of performance,” he said. Igalia is the author and primary maintainer of the WPE WebKit port for embedded and low- consumption computer devices. It specialises in client-side web technology, specifi cally

Castaño: ‘A different level of performance’

developing and optimising WPE WebKit, Chromium (web rendering engines for Apple’s Safari and Google’s Chrome respectively), Servo and Firefox for customers that use these platforms for their services. 5.A55

AEQ BY KEVIN EMMOTT

Field shows off the pocket-sized PAGlink micro charger

Expanding its range of intercom systems, the TP9116 and TP9416 user panels from AEQ are designed for matrix-based systems. The Spanish manufacturer has taken a user-friendly approach with full colour displays and four-way levers, with two functions per lever. The TP9000 series’ ‘Talk and Listen’ functionality boasts individual volume control for each communication point via a four-way lever. The panels feature 16 cross-stitch keys as well as four pages and can manage up to 64 destinations or groups via the EP9116 expansion rack-mount panel.

Aiming for the broadcast audio quality of Conexia and CrossNET systems, IP connectivity offers audio in Dante or AES67 formats, as well as Low Bit Rate Voice. Functionality includes acoustic echo cancellation and the automatic levelling of voice power or tonality to achieve better intelligibility. The panels also offer: three- band parametric EQ and high/ low-pass fi lters; dynamics adjustment such as compression and noise gates; and internal test audio signal generators. 8.C55
