ADVANCED LOUDNESS CONTROL WITH AIXTREAM Ferncast

BY KEVIN EMMOTT

Boasting full FM processing, advanced loudness control for audio-on-demand and Fraunhofer certifi cation, Ferncast’s aixtream v3.8 release is making its debut at IBC. The aixtream audio workfl ow software now includes full FM processing via Thimeo’s Stereo Tool, which also includes MicroMPX encoding for STL. MicroMPX transports a full FM composite MPX signal at 320kbit/s, including pilot and RDS. Ferncast claims it offers nearly lossless FM encoding and maintains peak control, even when

using composite clipping. The Stereo Tool user interface is fully integrated and supported within aixtream, providing users with access to the full suite of Stereo Tool options.

The implementation in aixtream

of xHE AAC has been approved by Fraunhofer and is now part of the xHE-AAC Trademark Program. The v3.8 update also delivers loudness control for audio on demand, support for HLS segment lengths down to 1 second, the

ability for WebRTC listen-in to allow multiple client listeners, improved AES67 compatibility with systems from other vendors, and the ability to trigger applets with an action delay. 8.F80

The OneClick Streamer demo app is available on Android, although Promwad says it is also developing a version for iOS. 8.A23c

Tiptop’s new Carbon Fibre Endzone Camera System is primarily designed for sports, whether as an aid to training and game analysis or for broadcast or live streaming use. There is also a new Aerial Photography Pole System, suitable for covering music festivals or other large-scale events, where its light weight and small footprint allows it to fi t into a tight corner to safely offer a high-level viewpoint. Both systems extend up to 13m in height, allowing users to take elevated photos and videos quickly without having to use drones or lifters, and can be set up in less than two minutes. They are made from a mix of high-strength carbon fi bre, fi breglass and composite materials, and come in variants with six to nine extendable sections, giving extended heights of 6m, 8m, 10m or 13m (with collapsed heights of 1.33m,

1.73m, 1.87m or 1.94m). The maximum pole diameter is 51mm, with 1/4in and 3/8in screw universal camera mounts. They can come with a phone or tablet holder for use as a monitor and an aluminium tripod. 11.B43
