HIVE DEAL SIGNED AND CAMCORDER DUO DEBUT Sony BY DAVID FOX
Public broadcaster Czech TV has selected Sony’s Media Backbone Hive v2.0 to upgrade its news production system.

autofocus, tracking and auto framing. The HXR-NX800 NXCAM and PXW-Z200 XDCAM camcorders have 1in CMOS sensors, variable neutral- density fi lters, and assignable lens rings.

A new 20x optical zoom lens covers 24mm wide angle to 480mm telephoto with a maximum aperture of F2.8-F4.5. The models can achieve 30x (4K) and 40x (HD) zoom with no noise using Sony’s Clear Image Zoom technology. Known worldwide for its large- format theatrical experience, IMAX also continues to roll out advancements in streaming optimisation and monitoring software. Vikram Arumilli, SVP and General Manager, IMAX Streaming and Consumer Technology, said the company realised a few years ago that there’s a “huge opportunity to bring IMAX closer to consumers in the home” and become the “premium way not just to watch content theatrically, but also be the premium way to watch content anywhere”.
Arumilli explained that the IMAX streaming and consumer
technology business is built on its acquisition of Ssimwave in 2022. The Ssimwave technology has since evolved into IMAX VisionScience, designed to optimise the quality of content. More recently, IMAX launched its StreamSmart On-Air product to monitor and maintain quality when streaming live sports events, for instance. Earlier this year, it showcased the technology in collaboration with AWS, Tencent and NBA China to bring a live sports experience to people in Hong Kong and Taiwan. IMAX is demonstrating its
streaming technology at IBC in order to reach out to more European customers, Arumilli said. “There’s an opportunity globally that we want to tap into,” he added. 5.F19
The IP-4042 from Astrodesign is a realtime region of interest (ROI) extractor that gives a user the ability to create four simultaneous independent 1920x1080 cutouts from a single 8K source. It extracts all four independent HD images and outputs them as separate channels like a virtual camera. Meanwhile, cutout picture movements can be programmed and automated by using hotkeys located on the front of the unit. This means that a programme operator can defi ne and control four camera shots with very little installation, simple
operation and reduced costs. Yoshioka ‘Sean’ Shuichi, General Manager, International Sales Division, Astrodesign, said: “A good use case is to use a single 8K camera to shoot a whole stage, and cover different aspects of the stage like a virtual camera. One operator is able to create four independent outputs from one 8K camera, and programme movements of each video channel via a shortcut key, which makes it very easy to operate.” 9.A11
