08 EOS C80 COVERS ALL THE BASES

Canon Europe BY DAVID FOX

The compact EOS C80 is the latest addition to Canon’s range of RF mount cinema cameras and includes the new backside- illuminated stacked CMOS sensor unveiled in the recently introduced EOS C400. This captures full-frame 6K images with 16 stops of dynamic range and minimal noise, with a triple base ISO of 800/3200/12,800 for optimal image quality. Intelligent auto-switching seamlessly transitions between these base ISO levels to keep pace with

S and XF-HEVC S (allowing oversampled 4K 4:2:2 10-bit image quality with manageable fi le sizes).

The EOS C80 is a compact addition to Canon’s RF mount cinema range

dynamic scenes, such as news or sports.

The EOS C80 also sports Dual Pixel CMOS AF II technology, with advanced autofocus,

including new body and animal tracking. It records in 12-bit Cinema Raw Light, up to 6K 30p, as well as new MP4 video formats such as XF-AVC

APIS HIVE PUTS THE BUZZ INTO IP SYSTEMS dB Broadcast BY DAVID FOX

APIS Hive software from dB Broadcast is designed to streamline the complete lifecycle of modern broadcast IP system architectures. It can manage and disseminate confi guration data to multiple end points in large-scale ST 2110 deployments, and builds on dB’s expertise in IP systems integration. Mike Bryan, Technology Director, dB Broadcast, said: “APIS Hive is invaluable for those seeking

to reduce the need for manual data entry with improved data accuracy and maintainability. It reduces recovery time from equipment failures or outage, and so instils confi dence in overall system confi guration. APIS Hive helps achieve the vision of fl exible, composable, scalable and maintainable OP facilities.” Providing a unifi ed and integrated workfl ow, APIS Hive addresses some of the challenges posed by the transition to AVoIP facilities, which sometimes lack the fl exibility, agility and reusability benefi ts

The compact form factor, familiar from the EOS C70, makes it easy to rig for gimbals and drones or for handheld use, where a redesigned, removeable top handle improves comfort. It also has a brighter LCD for use outdoors, plus improved joystick design. It can use Canon’s PL-to-RF mount adapter, which includes support for Cooke /i Technology metadata for improved workfl ow effi ciency and creative control for VFX and virtual production. 10.HR, 11.C40, 11.C41

that IT-centric facilities are meant to deliver. It is said to enable smoother design, implementation and support of broadcast systems, ensuring a dependable experience throughout the confi guration process. It regards everything as data and uses a high degree of automation. Security is integral, using modules and layers in place of unwieldy monolithic approaches. It should improve visibility into the intricacies of IP infrastructure and confi guration, including contextual relationships. 10.A30
